African Drumming and Fusion Theater at Sarah Scott Middle School

FUSION
is a performing arts after-school program that works with middle school students to develop a show that will be performed on the last day of class. FUSION explores theater using students’ imaginations and creativity to create a unique experience. Maximum enrollment is 20 students and registration will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Children participating in FUSION are required to attend classes, from start to finish, as the success of the program is dependent on the group as a whole. All materials are supplied.

African Drumming
is an interactive music class for young people focusing on the basics of rhythm, pulse, and musical creativity while promoting social cohesion and self-esteem. Students will learn to play a variety of percussion instruments from Africa, including drums, wood blocks, shakers and bells. The music classes will also include African songs, dances, and games. Reading music is not required and beginners are welcome! Maximum enrollment is 10 students and registration will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Children participating in African Drumming are required to attend classes, from start to finish, as the success of the program is dependent on the group as a whole.  All materials, including drums, are supplied.

A final drumming and theater performance will be held on April 27 at West Vigo Middle School.
