Raku Workshop

Ages: 14 and up
Dates & Time: January 31 & February 7, 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.
February 21, arrive at 9:00 a.m. and plan to spend the day firing

Raku is a specialized, low-firing process. This workshop allows participants to experience hand building and wheel throwing techniques that work well with the raku process. Students will experience the excitement of the fast firing that produces metallic lusters and crackling, distinctive to raku. All clay, glaze and firing costs are included in the class fee. Participants are required to bring their own potter’s tools. A beginner’s tool set may be purchased on the first day of class for $15.95. For all experience levels. 

Build a Valentine's Day Monster!

Ages: Adults and children, ages 9 and up
Dates & Time: January 31, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. (Build your monster)
February 14, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. (Paint your monster)

This workshop is for kids, parents or the whole family. Monsters can be vampires, witches, ghosts and mummies but some are loveable, too! On January 31, students build clay fantasy monsters that slink and crawl in their imagination! After the clay monsters have dried fully and are fired, students return on Valentine’s Day to paint their monsters with acrylics and take them home. All materials included in price.  

Acrylic Painting for Beginners

Workshop A: Introduction to Acrylics
Dates & Time: February 7,  2:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Join us for this afternoon workshop to learn the basics of mixing, blending, and applying acrylic paint while creating a Modernist inspired artwork. This workshop is for the artist who is interested in learning techniques, tools, and color theory. These basic skills will guide painters in future art-making endeavors.

Workshop B: Acrylic Painting - Portraiture
Dates & Time: February 21, 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.
This workshop will introduce participants to portrait painting skills. Students will use acrylic paints and paintbrushes as their primary tools for creating realistic portraits. Come prepared with 2 copies of a high quality color photograph.  

Workshop C: Acrylic Painting - Landscapes
Dates & Time: March 7, 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.
This workshop is for participants that are eager to explore the world of landscape painting. Using a variety of mixing and blending techniques, students will create an original painting in just one afternoon! 

Ages: 16 and up

African Drumming Workshop
