Sustainability Walking Tour of Indiana State University
Meet on at the bottom of the south steps outside of Tirey Hall
James H. Speer, Professor of Geography and Geology, Executive Director of the Institute for Community Sustainability

Indiana State University signed on to the American College and Universities President’s Climate Commitment in 2007 which started the organization of our sustainability efforts on campus that had been building since 1990 with the development of the Recycling Center as a cost-saving venture. We will be getting out of doors for a walking tour of the sustainability efforts at ISU and highlighting the things that make us a Tree Campus USA, took us to a silver rating on the STARS report, and is now one aspect of our recruitment of new students. We will walk through a couple of our LEED silver certified buildings, visit our green roof, see our car-share program, and our new 3.4kw wind turbine on campus. We will have a quick 45 minute walk through campus to see and discuss these different sustainability features around campus.
